Est. 2009 · Race Engineering Atelier

Precision that survives the redline.

Group 2 Motorsports is an independent engineering atelier building, tuning and supporting competition cars for club racers, historic rally crews and long-distance endurance programmes. From blueprinted engine builds to full chassis development and trackside support — we obsess over the details that turn a finished car into a front-running one.

About Group 2 Motorsports

An engineering house built around the pit lane, not the showroom.

We exist for people who measure progress in milliseconds, in lap time, in finishing position — and who understand that reliability is a design decision, not an accident.

Group 2 Motorsports was founded by a small group of engineers, ex-factory and ex-privateer, who wanted a workshop where decisions could be made on evidence rather than opinion. Two decades later, that same principle still runs through everything we do: measure, model, iterate, and only then commit the car to the track.

Our home is a purpose-built facility north of the city — a 1,800 m² space divided into dedicated build bays, a clean assembly room, an engine dynamometer cell, a fabrication corner with TIG welding, CNC and a tube bender, and a corner-weight rig for chassis setup. It is deliberately small enough that a lead engineer can walk every build at the end of the day, and equipped enough that no critical process is outsourced.

What we actually do: we take a car — historic, modern or something in between — and we treat it as a system. Engine, gearbox, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, aero, cooling, wiring, data. We define the goal, we build a plan, and we execute with the same rigour whether the target is a club championship, a 24-hour race or a customer's first track day.

We are not a marketing operation. We publish our build logs, our dyno sheets and our mistakes. If your project needs a partner who will tell you when an idea is wrong as well as when it is right, that is the conversation we want to have.

Capabilities

Everything under one roof — from a single seal to a full build.

Six core service pillars that cover the lifecycle of a competition car, from conception to the last lap of the season.

01 / Engines

Engine Builds & Blueprinting

Full teardown, crack testing, line-boring, decking, balancing and hand assembly. Naturally aspirated, turbocharged or supercharged — we work with production base engines and bespoke race units alike. Every engine leaves with a dyno sheet, a clearance record and a run-in procedure.

02 / Chassis

Chassis & Suspension Development

Corner-weighting, geometry setup, damper valving, spring rate selection and bushing design. We work from measured data — shock pots, tyre temperatures, driver feedback — and never from guesswork. Roll-centre and anti-squat analysis included for every new build.

03 / Fabrication

Fabrication & Machining

TIG welding in steel, stainless and aluminium; tube bending and notching; CNC milling and turning for one-off components; roll cages to FIA / MSA specification. If a part does not exist, we make it — and we make it strong, light and repeatable.

04 / Data & Dyno

Dyno Tuning & Data Engineering

Steady-state and sweep dyno sessions with live ECU calibration. Post-session data work with our engineers — overlay laps, brake-point analysis, gearing strategy, fuel and tyre modelling. You leave every session knowing exactly what changed and why.

05 / Rally & Historic

Historic Rally Preparation

FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) compliant builds for Group 2, Group 4 and Group B era cars. Period-correct engines, correct-specification suspension, dual-shock conversions, underbody protection and gravel-spec wiring looms. We know the rulebooks line by line.

06 / Trackside

Trackside & Season Support

Transport, pit setup, strategy, tyre and fuel management, live telemetry. We run support crews for sprint, hillclimb and endurance programmes across Europe — from one-off events to full championship seasons with a dedicated engineer and mechanic.

How We Work

A process designed to remove surprises.

Every project — from a head refresh to a full ground-up build — follows the same disciplined path. It is the reason our customers know where their money is going.

STEP 01

Discovery & Brief

We meet, we talk, we listen. What is the car for? What is the goal? What is the budget and the deadline? We produce a written brief before a single spanner is lifted.

STEP 02

Inspection & Measurement

The car is stripped, cleaned and fully inspected. Engines are crack-tested, chassis are measured against factory jigs, and everything is photographed and logged into the project file.

STEP 03

Design & Plan

We specify what will be replaced, rebuilt, redesigned or left alone — with costs, lead times and expected performance impact for every line item. You approve the plan in writing.

STEP 04

Build & Fabrication

Assembly happens in a clean, controlled environment. Fabrication happens in steel and aluminium, by hand, by engineers who weld their own cages and machine their own brackets.

STEP 05

Dyno, Setup & Test

Engines are run and calibrated on the dyno. Chassis are corner-weighted and aligned. The car is then tested — properly — before it ever sees a race weekend. Data is reviewed with you line by line.

STEP 06

Support & Season

We hand over the car with a full document pack, run-in schedule and spares list. From there we can support every event, every test, every season — or hand the keys back and let you race it your way.

Get in Touch

Tell us about your project.

Whether you have a fully-specified build in mind or just a vague idea and a car on the trailer, the first conversation is always a written brief. Send us the details, and one of our lead engineers will get back to you within two working days.

We work with customers across Europe, and we are happy to arrange collection, transport and long-distance project management.
